An idea is like a virus

The year of the release had a similar recipe of global events taking place today. Earthquakes, disease outbreak, political anarchy, stand out pieces of film, and record-breaking achievements by the world’s most elite athletes. The feature’s theatrical announcement was hidden within the mist of premonition from the build-up of the tragic events. Leonardo was the chosen vessel and I was ready for my perception to be altered.

Removing the word ‘like’ from the statement opens the floor to explore the core theme within the film. Since ideas aren’t exactly tangible until they are given context, will determine the growth and intention of the idea. Routine ideas on the other hand tend to be handled more vicariously which form into a habit and essentially a way of life. A virus and idea have the same mechanics, size, and a host to feed on. Once they penetrate the host’s first line of defence, it gets to work immediately. The most effective way to reconstruct an object is from within the inner framework of that structure.

After the high profile introduction, Dominick gives us the breakdown of his field. Ariadne’s academic point of view allows us to grasp how dreams are built. As he explains the mechanics of their surroundings, her understanding quickly adapts to the joyful awareness of what she was creating. This is the same as going to sleep with the intent to readjust your dreams and extract information about your being from within your subconscious mind. Entering someone’s mind without permission will leave you exposed to a variety of emotional projections that will harm your consciousness.

The weight of the heist being successful rested largely on Eames' shoulders. His ability to disguise himself subconsciously is a huge threat. Arthur & Dominick mention several times, the endless depth of the subconscious and referenced the army being known for using these methods for special op missions. The organizers who created these programs and facilities must already have a vast understanding of the mind, to be able to carry out such practices. 

The lifelong damage created by the strained relationship between Fischer and his father; show how relationships truly impact us on multiple levels of our identity. For if Fischer did not acquire enough special training to protect his mind and subconscious from high-level infiltration, it is more than likely that darker projections would aggressively protect its host. The positive for Fischer is the outlook that he will have on himself despite it being for an unfair motive.

Mal’s destructive nature and influence is a reflection of how projections within us function. The sensation which fed her perception of reality is also what led Ariadne back to Arthur. The tragedy with Mal’s return to reality was unique because of her mind's refusal to blur the lines between the dream state and reality. Her direct experience is testimony to the correlation that when our minds are exposed to deeper truths, the internal battle to control such understanding can lead to mishaps. Those who conquer the battle become mental architects, leading others to discover their truth with their unique perception.

If your body has white blood cells to defend itself, then the mind must have a mental defence system. Venturing deeper into the subconscious is the equivalent of exploring your mental universe of what you are. To gain access to the deeper levels one must continuously shed their identity with the assistance of high-quality information, to see what version waits. 

Fischer and Leo are ideal examples of what happens to us when we don’t seek antidotes to the scenarios and lessons that life presents us. Otherwise, we will continue to endlessly supply ourselves with the dopamine from our fantasies of the past and future. We are only ever facing ourselves and the excitement of life is having the courage to find out what lies on the other side of the unknown.
